The albumen printing process was predominate
in the late 1800s using wet-plate collodion negatives. It was replaced by silver-gelatin papers in the 1920s.
Unlike platinum and palladium printing, the albumen process is a rarity nowadays. Technically, the process is difficult
to master and the albumen mixture, consisting mainly of egg whites, isn't as archival as other alternative processes.
I am drawn to the process by the ephemeral mood the albumen gives images. I am currently working on a project of 22"x22"
albumen prints.
